Indie Maker Log

When I get distracted, I spin up an experiment.

I'm an indie developer with a dash of ADHD, so I gave every spark of inspiration a shared home: Fenxin Lab—"fenxin" loosely means a mind that wanders in Chinese. No org charts, no KPIs—just me, the code, and the next idea that might grow into something.

Lab Notes

I treat distractions as signals for exploration, giving every wandering thought a place to land.

💬 Who am I

I'm an indie developer with a touch of ADHD, doing a bit of everything. So I bundled my work under one name—Fenxin Lab—with "fenxin" as shorthand for those curious, distractible sparks.

There's no team here, no whiteboard meetings either. Just me, the code, and visiting sparks of curiosity.

The "lab" is less a place and more a mindset: try things, see what they become.

💡 What I'm building

I create small products around attention, creativity, and humanity. Some help people focus, others are pure experiments.

My first build is called "Study Buddy". It's an online study room that records focus time, stitches timelapses, detects drifting attention, and gathers a quiet crew to learn together.

It doesn't demand perfection. It simply invites you back after every distraction.

🌱 What I believe

I'm not chasing viral hits, and I won't pretend to stay laser-focused.

Technology shouldn't punish distraction—it should welcome it. Efficiency isn't a cold number; it's part of a livable rhythm.

So I let distractions leave a trace and give every micro-idea a shot at becoming real. That's why Fenxin Lab exists.

Project 01

"Study Buddy" Online Studio

Study Buddy is a little room I built for myself and fellow travelers—where focus can be recorded, nudged, and shared. Forget perfect scores; just find your way back after drifting off.

  • Timelapse logging: turn each session into a timelapse that captures your effort.
  • AI guardrails: gentle reminders when your attention slips toward the phone.
  • Asynchronous presence: a still frame refreshes every 10 seconds so we keep each other company without pressure.
  • Pomodoro cadence: no chatting during focus blocks, just enough to drop into the flow.

Next Experiments

Ideas resting in my notes app, waiting for curiosity to wake them up.

🤖 Tiny AI experiments

Exploring how attention and AI collaborate, from digital companions to creative assistants.

🤯 Creative tools

Small playful gadgets that help you capture sparks and stage your ideas.

🏝️ Rhythm of life

Less productivity machine, more dashboard for sensing your state and tuning the day.

"Fenxin Lab: give every distraction a little meaning."

— A note to self

If any of this resonates, drop by again. I announce new experiments here first.
